This past Spring, something truly special happened at Rolly’s Baby Boutique — a day of sweet kiddos, southern charm, and lots of giggles! I was honored to host a very special Heirloom Portrait Event, and it was every bit as fun as we hoped it would be.
If you’ve ever stepped foot inside Rolly’s, you already know it’s a favorite for Winston-Salem parents to find the perfect nursery decor, classic clothing for children and wonderful toys and books for those early childhood years. It was truly the perfect location for these classic, hand-edited portraits.
What Are Heirloom Portraits?
Heirloom portraits are more than just photos. They are carefully crafted, timeless images — capturing details of your little one in traditional children’s clothing — designed to be displayed for generations. Think hand-smocked dresses, little boy bubbles, white backdrops, and those sweet expressions we all treasure.
These portraits are meant to be framed, displayed in a special place in your home, and passed down as part of your family’s story. They are a nod to the past with an emphasis on capturing your little one's unique personality.
THE EXPERIENCE
Families arrived at Rolly’s dressed to perfection — many wearing pieces from the boutique itself, known for its classic southern children’s clothing. Each session was kept short and sweet (because toddlers, of course!) while ensuring we captured just the right expressions — the soft glances, the buttoned-up charm, the little pouty face that just melts your heart. Rolly's always throws wonderful events, with snacks and treats for the little ones to enjoy after their portrait sitting, and displays of the newest clothing and gifts easily available for parents to shop throughout the store. Their team was so warm and welcoming, and it made for a truly seamless and joyful experience for everyone involved.

For over thirty years, Rolly’s Baby Boutique has been helping parents and grandparents welcome new little ones to their families. Every item is hand-picked by owner Melanie Barbee, and many items can be personalized- be that with a classic monogram or a hand-painted name on a toy. It's my favorite place to shop for a friend who is welcoming a new baby or for the newest smocked dress for my client wardrobe.
